In conjunction with the performance of the same name, Voicemail (Installation) presents its video documentation. A one-way sign with a luminescent arrow atop a projected moving image draws you in. Jagged painted lines in blue, red, and purple lead you down a narrow corridor, at the end of which is a monitor playing the footage from Voicemail. Between the tight quarters and the waved lines reminiscent of sound waves, the situation in which one views Voicemail feels like an entrapment inside a phone itself. In this installation, we as viewers become almost the medium of the voicemail while experiencing it. - Emma Huerta
